This month's must-see motoring events

Aug 21-23
European GP
Button may be relaxing with Schuey here (pic), but he’ll be tussling for points with him in Valencia. Who’d have thought it…

Aug 21-23
Le Mans Series, Nurburgring
The Ring hosts competitors from Le Mans – we’ll be putting our money on Peugeot making it three wins on the trot in the Eifel mountains.

Aug 23
RWYB, Santa Pod
It’s the classic Run What Ya Brung public trackday at the Pod. There’s another on September 5, too.

Aug 28-30
Belgian GP
Another gratuitous Schumacher reference. Massa took the chequered flag at Spa in ‘08, can his surprise fill-in do likewise this year?

Sept 4-6
WRC, Australia
The ‘Roo-dodging rally returns, with 35 gravelly stages at the amusingly named Tweed and Kyogle shires on the country’s east coast.

Sept 5-6
DTM, Brands Hatch
The German touring cars come to Brands, with six Brits to cheer on as well as Schumacher in a C-class. Ralf, that is…

Sept 11
EVO track evening
Our trackday season comes to a close. Miss this one and you’ll have to wait until next summer to come and say hello to us.

Sept 11-13
Le Mans Series, Silverstone
Mosey on down to Northants to cheer on the rather tremendous Gulf-liveried Aston Martin LMP1s.

Sept 18-20
Goodwood Revival
Have a gander into Goodwood’s (and motorsport’s) past. The highlight will be Sunday’s legend-packed Tourist Trophy race.

Sept 19
Rallyday 2009, Castle Combe
See the mighty Stig Blomqvist pilot an ex-works Audi Quattro S1. If you’re too young to be aware of either, educate yourself on YouTube.

Sept 19-20
British GT Championship, Brands Hatch
It’s perhaps a bit of an unknown, the British GT Championship, but it doesn’t deserve to be. It boasts a packed grid, proper driver changes and a host of talent driving a real mix of cars. There are three classes – GT3, GT4 and Supersport – with cars ranging from the KTM X-Bow and Ferrari Scuderia to the Ascari KZ1-R and Dodge Viper. You can discover it for yourself by entering our competition. We’ve teamed up with Aston N24-campaigning Beechdean Motorsport and its sponsor, Chronoswiss, to give away four hospitality tickets for the weekend. Enter the comp here.

Sept 20
BTCC, Rockingham
You should know the drill by now – find the nearest computer, head to our online competition, win some tickets. Sorted.

Sept 19-20
European Truck Racing, Le Mans
La Sarthe’s Bugatti circuit plays host to 1000 horsepower lorries. What could be better?

Sept 25-27
Singapore GP
It’s the second year for Formula 1 in Singapore, with a reprofiled circuit to aid overtaking. Excellent.
